Sonia Pawluczyk, MD is a Clinical Assistant Professor (Part-Time) in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the University of Southern California (USC). She has held this position since 1991 and is affiliated with the USC Memory and Aging Center and Rancho Los Amigos Hospital. Dr. Pawluczyk completed her MD at the University of Buenos Aires Medical School, followed by psychiatry residency at LAC+USC Medical Center and fellowships in Psychiatry & Law and Geriatric Psychiatry.
Her research focuses on geriatric psychiatry, Alzheimer’s disease, dementia diagnosis, and clinical trial methodologies for neurodegenerative disorders. She has pioneered cross-cultural assessment tools for Spanish-speaking Alzheimer’s patients and contributed to pharmacokinetic studies of novel Alzheimer’s therapies. Her work integrates neuroimaging, genetic analysis, and healthcare data analytics to address aging-related neurological challenges.
Dr. Pawluczyk has authored over 15 peer-reviewed articles spanning 40 years of practice, with recent contributions emphasizing functional connectivity in cognitive decline and regenerative therapeutics. Her clinical expertise spans behavioral symptom management in dementia, pharmacotherapy optimization, and neuropharmacological interventions. She also addresses healthcare disparities through bilingual assessment protocols and culturally adapted clinical trials.
