David J. Loreck

Dr. David J. Loreck is a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Maryland School of Medicine's Department of Psychiatry. He leads the Baltimore VAMC Mental Health Consultation Service and Neuropsychiatry Clinic, specializing in Alzheimer's Disease, Dementia, and Geriatric Psychiatry. He holds board certifications in Adult Psychiatry, Geriatric Psychiatry, and Neuropsychiatry.

Education: BA in Political Science and English Literature from University of Maryland College Park (1979), M.D. from University of Texas Medical School (1987 with honors/AOA), and completed residency/fellowship training at University of Maryland Medical System and Johns Hopkins School of Medicine (Alzheimer's Disease Research Center).

Research focuses on dementia/delirium treatment in the elderly, with participation in VA clinical trials. Major contributions include developing the Baltimore VAMC Alzheimer's Disease/Memory Disorders Clinic and serving on VA Dementia Clinical Care and Delirium Field Advisory committees.
