So-Ock Kim is Professor of Violin at the Royal Academy of Music and Artistic Coordinator of the Beare's International Violin Society. An internationally acclaimed soloist and recording artist, she debuted professionally at age 15 as the youngest gold medal winner of the prestigious Shell/LSO Competition, performing Tchaikovsky with the London Symphony Orchestra at Barbican Hall.
Her research focuses on expanding violin repertoire through premieres of new works recorded for Universal and Naxos. As a chamber musician, she explores interpretive approaches to both classical and contemporary repertoire.
Kim has performed with major orchestras worldwide including the Philharmonia Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic, and BBC Philharmonic under conductors including Vladimir Ashkenazy, Kent Nagano, and Edward Gardner. Her performances have been broadcast internationally and featured at festivals including BBC Proms, Schleswig Holstein, and Ravinia.
