- MHS: Yale School of Medicine (2022)
Dr. Jain's research is centered on improving patient-centered outcomes for older adults with critical illness and serious conditions. Her work explores how healthcare delivery differences impact outcomes, particularly in aging populations. Key areas include post-ICU disability, symptom burden, end-of-life care, rehabilitation in the ICU, and health disparities related to race and social determinants. She employs clinical epidemiology and health services research methods to generate evidence that informs patient care and policy.
Her recent publications demonstrate a strong focus on aging, critical care, and health equity. Themes include trends in ICU use at end-of-life, racial disparities in COPD outcomes, social determinants of rehabilitation access, and cognitive and functional outcomes after hospitalization in long-term acute care. Her work often leverages large datasets and contributes to national discussions on improving care for vulnerable older populations.
Dr. Jain has received significant recognition for her contributions:
- Emerging Career Award, American Thoracic Society
- Health in Aging Foundation New Investigator Award, American Geriatrics Society
- Emerging Generations Award, American Society of Clinical Investigation
- Presidential Poster Award, American Geriatrics Society
- Scholar in Diagnostic Excellence, National Academy of Medicine
- Top Reviewer, JAMA Internal Medicine
