Sion Owen is a Senior Lecturer (Primary) in Initial Teacher Education at Swansea University's Education and Childhood Studies department within the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. He specializes in Welsh-medium primary education, digital competence, and teacher training. Previously a primary school teacher in Carmarthenshire, he holds a PGCE and Master's in Educational Practice, both through Welsh-medium institutions.
His research focuses on parental engagement in teacher education and the implementation of the Welsh Language Charter. He has contributed to publications like the Wales Journal of Education and collaborates with the Swansea University Schools Partnership to develop evidence-informed teaching practices.
Owen teaches modules on professional practice, curriculum design, and research-informed pedagogy. His work emphasizes reflective practice, inclusive education, and the integration of digital tools in classrooms.
