Miss Laura Evans is a Senior Lecturer in Education and Childhood Studies at Swansea University. She specializes in Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) teacher education, with expertise in curriculum design, pedagogy, and teacher development. Previously, she served as Head of Department and pastoral Head of Year in secondary schools in South Wales, and mentored PGCE and NQT trainees. Before joining Swansea in 2021, she held a Senior Lecturer position at UWE Bristol, focusing on professional development and university-school partnerships.
Her teaching and research interests include language pedagogy, reflective practice, and practitioner research. She co-leads modules such as Curriculum Design and Realisation (ED-M04) and Research-Informed Reflective Practice: Modern Foreign Languages (EDPM30F), emphasizing evidence-based strategies and Wales’ new educational curriculum. Her work integrates national frameworks for literacy, numeracy, and digital competence while addressing anti-racist policies and Welsh language requirements.
Laura’s professional background spans initial teacher education, MA in Education programs, and the Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Professional Practice. Her research explores MFL teacher recruitment/retention and early career motivations, reflecting her broader commitment to enhancing teacher effectiveness and educational equity.
