Simran Maggo

Simran Maggo is Assistant Professor of Pharmacy at Shenandoah University, specializing in pharmacogenomics and personalized medicine. With an M.Sc. in Pharmacology & Toxicology and Ph.D. in Pharmacology from University of Otago, he established the UDRUGS study providing pharmacogenetic testing to clinicians and co-founded the PATHMED biobank.

His research tackles psychiatric pharmacogenomics challenges, particularly antidepressant response prediction and implementation barriers. Recent publications demonstrate methodological innovations in genetic analysis and economic modeling of pharmacogenomic implementation.

His NIH-funded work addresses equity in pharmacogenomics through studies on Māori and Pacific populations, opioid safety in infants, and chemotherapy optimization for pediatric cancers.
