Helen E. Smith is a Professor in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the Feik School of Pharmacy, University of the Incarnate Word (UIW). She specializes in pharmacogenomics and toxicology education, teaching pharmacology, renal and oncology pharmacotherapeutic courses, and clinical toxicology electives.
Her research interests include:
- Pharmacogenomics curriculum development
- Translational toxicology research
- Drug lifecycle management
- Public health genetics
Dr. Smith chairs the UIW Internal Review Board, participates in sustainability initiatives, and serves as Faculty Advisor to Phi Delta Chi and NCPA. She co-developed the San Antonio MedDropSA medication disposal project and has published in Pharmacogenetics and Genomics, Specialty Pharmacy Times, and Pharmacy Review. Her recent work includes a chapter in 'Pharmacogenomics and Pharmacy Practice' and contributions to Goodman & Gilman's The Pharmacological Basis of Therapeutics.
