Simon Somogyi is a Professor and Director of the Weston AgriFood Sales Program at Texas A&M University's College of Agriculture & Life Sciences, Department of Agricultural Economics. He holds the Dr Kerry Litzenberg Endowed Chair and maintains adjunct appointments at the University of Queensland, Dalhousie University, and University of Guelph. Recognized as a RETHINK Retail Top Retail Expert (2024-2025), his research focuses on global agri-food value chains.
His work examines consumer behavior in digital food retailing, price forecasting methodologies, and sustainability in food systems. Recent studies analyze phygital retail integration, pandemic-era decision-making, and policy impacts on food accessibility. He leads the Texas A&M Food Price Predictor initiative and advises governments internationally.
Honors include global thought leadership recognition in retail innovation. Research spans 20+ countries including China, Kenya, and Indonesia, with frequent media contributions to BBC News, The Washington Post, and Financial Post.
