Simon Sheard is a Senior Lecturer and Programme Leader for the PGCE iQTS Primary (DL) at the University of Sunderland's School of Education. He holds a Senior Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy and specializes in primary mathematics education, teacher training, and curriculum implementation. His research focuses on primary teachers' perceptions of Teaching for Mastery (TfM) and the use of manipulatives in lessons.
With a background as a primary school teacher and Assistant Headteacher, he has extensive experience in whole-school management, staff professional development, and education policy. He leads modules on PGCE Education (DL) and supervises MA Education Research theses. His expertise includes the UK National Curriculum (NC2014), applied computing in primary schools, and assessment systems.
