Laura Wild is an Assistant Professor in the School of Education at Durham University, appointed in 2020. She holds leadership roles including Curriculum, Assessment and Student Experience (CASE) Programme Lead for the undergraduate programme, Primary Mathematics Education team lead, and Leadership module leader. Her professional background includes 15 years in primary school teaching in Yorkshire, serving as Executive Deputy Headteacher and completing the National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH). She has extensive experience in school improvement through roles in a Trust School Improvement Team and as Curriculum Development Project Lead for a Local Authority.

Her research focuses on mixed-age classroom pedagogy, evidence of depth in primary mathematics, and the role of questioning in teaching. She collaborates with schools to design effective mathematical content delivery across mixed-age settings. Current projects include investigating direct feedback as a pedagogical tool and exploring mastery approaches in mathematics education.
Wild is deeply involved in teacher training through PGCE and BA Primary Education programmes. She works closely with the Centre for Developmental Psychiatry (CDP) and outreach initiatives in Initial Teacher Education (ITE), focusing on participant-centered learning designs and evaluating professional development impacts.
