معرفی
Simon Rinaldi is an Associate Professor at the University of Oxford's Nuffield Department of Clinical Neurosciences (NDCN) and an Honorary Consultant Neurologist. He leads Oxford's research program on inflammatory neuropathies, including Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS), Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy (CIDP), and Multifocal Motor Neuropathy (MMN).
Education:
- BSc (Hons) - University of Manchester (2002)
- MBChB - University of Manchester (2003)
- PhD - University of Glasgow (2011)
His research focuses on neuroimmunology, developing human stem cell-based models for immune-mediated axonal injury and demyelination, and identifying pathogenic antibodies in GBS and CIDP. He has established transfected cell assays to study nodal/paranodal proteins and collaborates with global clinical networks like the International GBS Outcome Study (IGOS).
Research Trends: Recent publications highlight his work on neuroimmune interactions, including NK cell roles in nerve injury, nodal antibody pathogenicity, and biomarker discovery for demyelination. His studies integrate human stem cell models with clinical databases.
Scientific Awards:
- Medical Research Council Clinician Scientist Fellowship (2017-present)
- Academy of Medical Sciences Grant (2014-2016)
- NIHR Grant (2012-2016)
- Wellcome Trust Grant (2007-2010)
Grants: Funded by MRC, Wellcome Trust, and NIHR to study immune mechanisms in neuropathies. His work bridges clinical and laboratory research, aiming to improve therapies for GBS and CIDP.
