Dr Simon Fraser serves as a Senior Lecturer in Entrepreneurship and International Engagement Lead at Aberdeen Business School, Robert Gordon University. His academic journey began with a BSc in Biology from the University of St Andrews, followed by a PhD in Plant Physiology and Biochemistry from Newcastle University, and later a PGCert in Higher Education Learning and Teaching from Robert Gordon University.

Simon's research focuses on entrepreneurship education, social entrepreneurship, rural entrepreneurship, and entrepreneurship methodology. His work bridges academic theory with practical business applications, particularly in small business management and enterprise development. His transition from plant science to business education reflects an interdisciplinary approach that informs his teaching methodology and research perspective.
As International Engagement Lead since 2017 and School Recruitment Champion, Simon manages global partnerships while coordinating enterprise-focused modules including Technology Innovation and Commercialisation for Masters/MBA programs, and the Connect to Business route for undergraduate management students. He also oversees the MBA Consultancy Project Portfolio module connecting students with international businesses.

Simon supervises undergraduate and postgraduate theses on entrepreneurship topics and has guided four PhD students to completion. He serves as an external examiner for Masters programs at the University of Aberdeen and has directed graduate schools for Vitae and Research Councils UK, helping PhD students worldwide develop enterprise skills. His practical experience includes roles as Regional Business Adviser for the Scottish Institute for Enterprise, Enterprise Development Officer at Newcastle University, and business development officer in RGU's Commercialisation department.
