Professor Simon Forrest is Principal of College of St Hild and St Bede and a faculty member in the Department of Sociology at Durham University. He joined Durham in 2019, having previously served as Head of the School of Medicine, Pharmacy and Health (2014-2017) and held positions at Newcastle University. His career spans secondary education, health promotion advisory roles, and academic research focused on young people's sexual health and gender studies.
Professor Forrest's research examines:
- Sexual attitudes/behavior in youth populations
- Innovative approaches to sexual health education
- Masculinity construction in young men
- Socio-cultural dimensions of emotional experiences
- Cross-cultural comparisons of sexual health interventions
His recent publications demonstrate strong focus on sexual health measurement tools, mental health determinants in South Asia, healthcare system studies, and gender/sexuality attitudes.
