G. Simeon Pillich is a Resident Professor in the Music department at Occidental College (Oxy). He holds degrees from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), including a Ph.D., and has been deeply involved in music academia since 1991. His research focuses on world music and jazz traditions, with a particular emphasis on cross-cultural musical exchanges.

Pillich combines academic rigor with extensive industry experience, including work as a consultant on musical style and culture for the film industry and as a session musician on bass guitar. He has also taught at Chapman University, Cal State San Bernardino, University of La Verne, and UCLA, and hosted the radio program The Global Village on KPFK-FM for six years.
