Silvia Manconi

Silvia Manconi is a Junior Professor specializing in astroparticle physics and dark matter searches at Sorbonne University and the Laboratory of theoretical and high energy physics (LPTHE) in Paris, France.

Her research program centers on understanding the most energetic astrophysical sources of cosmic radiations to search for non-gravitational evidence of dark matter. Specifically, she investigates indirect dark matter signals in cosmic radiation and analyzes various astrophysical phenomena producing charged cosmic rays and gamma-rays across the electromagnetic spectrum. Her work leverages observational data from space-based and ground-based detectors to probe fundamental particle physics through astrophysical observations.

Dr. Manconi previously held a prestigious Marie Skłodowska-Curie fellowship at the Laboratoire d'Annecy-Le-Vieux de Physique Theorique (LAPTh), where she led the VerSi project investigating signatures of cosmic rays and new fundamental particles in the Very high energy sky.

Her academic career path includes postdoctoral research at the Institute for Theoretical Particle Physics and Cosmology (TTK) at RWTH Aachen University in Germany; completion of her master's and PhD at the Department of Physics and INFN of the University of Turin in Italy; a visiting researcher position at SLAC in San Francisco, USA; and undergraduate studies in Cagliari, Italy. Her interdisciplinary approach bridges theoretical particle physics with observational astrophysics to address one of modern physics' most challenging questions.
