معرفی
Björn Herrmann is a University Professor of Physics at Université Savoie Mont Blanc and Director of the Laboratoire d'Annecy de Physique Théorique (LAPTh) since September 2024. He teaches in the Department of Physical Measurements at the University Institute of Technology (IUT) Annecy and in the Master programme Physique Subatomique et Cosmologie at Université Savoie Mont Blanc and Université Grenoble Alpes.
His educational background includes:
- Habilitation à Diriger la Recherche, Université Grenoble Alpes (2019)
- Ph.D. in Theoretical Physics, Université Joseph Fourier Grenoble (2008)
- Master in Physique Subatomique et Astroparticules, Université Joseph Fourier Grenoble (2005)
Professor Herrmann's research focuses on phenomenology beyond the Standard Model of particle physics, particularly the interplay of collider, flavour, and dark matter aspects. As founding member of the DM@NLO collaboration, he develops precise predictions for dark matter calculations using next-to-leading order techniques and computational tools. His work bridges theoretical frameworks with experimental constraints from particle colliders and astroparticle observations.
Recent publications (2023-2024) demonstrate consistent output in high-impact journals, with emphasis on scotogenic models for neutrino mass and dark matter, precision dark matter annihilation calculations, and gauge-invariant formulations of extended Higgs sectors. His research integrates collider signatures, flavour physics anomalies, and cosmological constraints to test new physics scenarios.
Professor Herrmann has supervised five PhD students to completion and mentors Master's students and postdocs. His leadership roles include:
- Director of LAPTh (since 2024)
- President of Bureau des Théoriciens de la Physique des Particules (BTP2) (since 2025)
- Convenor of Beyond Standard Model working group (IRN Terascale)
- Scientific management committee member (GDR Intensity Frontier)
He leads the Annecy Laboratory of Theoretical Physics (LAPTh), a CNRS-Université Savoie Mont Blanc joint research unit specializing in particle physics, astroparticle physics, and cosmology. The lab provides advanced computational resources for precision calculations and hosts the annual École de Gif, fostering collaboration among French particle theorists.
