Silje Kristin Gloppen is a Research Fellow and PhD candidate at the University of Oslo's Faculty of Educational Sciences, affiliated with the Department of Teacher Education and School Research (ILS). Her doctoral project focuses on 'Practices for teaching assessment in Norway – opportunities for professional development in the tension between different forms of accountability,' examining how teacher evaluation policies are implemented and experienced in Norwegian schools. Supervised by Prof. Guri Skedsmo, Associate Prof. Judit Novak, and Prof. Sølvi Mausethagen, her work bridges international policy trends and local educational practices.
Background: Educated as a general teacher and holding a master's in general pedagogy (2011), Gloppen has extensive experience in public and Waldorf schools, including roles as a special educator and team leader. She contributes to the Erasmus+ project 'Aiding Culturally Responsive Assessment in Schools (ACRAS).'
Research Interests: Gloppen’s work centers on education policy, teacher assessment, school development, and the intersection of accountability mechanisms with professional autonomy. Her recent publications analyze Norwegian teacher evaluation frameworks and culturally responsive assessment strategies.
Teaching: She teaches and supervises the Master's Program in Education Management, including courses on educational leadership and professional development.
