Guri Skedsmo is an Associate Professor at the University of Oslo's Department of Teacher Education and School Research (Norway) and a Professor at the Institute for the Management and Economics of Education at the University of Teacher Education Zug (Switzerland). Her research focuses on educational governance, school leadership, accountability policies, and data-driven decision-making in education. She holds a Ph.D. in Education from the University of Oslo (2009).
Key roles include co-leading EU projects on school inspection systems and feedback mechanisms for leaders, and leading the Professional Actors' Work to Retain Students in Secondary Education (ProAct) project (Norwegian Research Council). She teaches on the Master's Program in Educational Leadership and the National Principal Program at UiO and is Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Educational Assessment, Evaluation and Accountability.
Research interests span comparative education reforms, NPM policy impacts, and the interplay between data practices and educational quality. She has published widely on accountability policies, school leadership development, and cross-national educational governance challenges.
