Siddharth Deshpande is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of Rochester's Hajim School of Engineering and Applied Sciences. He earned his PhD from Purdue University in 2021. His research focuses on developing scalable energy conversion and storage technologies through atomic-scale modeling and data-driven approaches.
His group studies solid-liquid/gas interfaces using first-principles calculations and machine learning, with applications in battery chemistries and catalytic systems. The research aims to overcome thermodynamic limitations and side reactions in energy technologies.
Dr. Deshpande's publications predominantly address heterogeneous catalysis (40%), electrocatalysis (33%), and battery materials (27%), with recent emphasis on machine learning applications in materials design. He teaches courses in Statistical Thermodynamics.
He received the Future Faculty Award from Purdue University in 2021.
