Yasemin Basdogan is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of Rochester's Hajim School of Engineering and Applied Sciences. Her research integrates molecular simulations, quantum chemistry, and artificial intelligence to design advanced materials for sustainability and energy applications, focusing on CO2 separation, conversion, and catalyst design.
Dr. Basdogan holds a PhD from the University of Pittsburgh (2020). Her research group, the Basdogan Lab, develops computational approaches to address climate change challenges. Core methodologies include molecular dynamics simulations and machine learning for predicting material properties.
Her publications demonstrate strong emphasis on machine learning applications in materials science (57% of recent articles), polymer membrane design for gas separation (27%), and catalytic reaction mechanisms (16%). This reflects consistent focus on computational solutions for sustainable energy technologies.
Honors include the MIT Chemical Engineering Rising Stars recognition (2021), Dr. James M. Coull Memorial Award for top PhD student (2020), and Fulbright Scholarship (2015).
