Shunxing Rong

Dr. Shunxing Rong is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Molecular Genetics and Center for Human Nutrition at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. He holds a Ph.D. in Medicine from Wake Forest University (2010) and completed postdoctoral training in Dr. Jay Horton's laboratory at UT Southwestern (2011–2017). His research focuses on lipid metabolism, atherosclerosis, and fatty liver disease, particularly exploring molecular mechanisms underlying cholesterol and lipid homeostasis. Dr. Rong has contributed to studies on SREBP signaling pathways, macrophage dysfunction in cardiovascular diseases, and genetic factors influencing metabolic disorders. His work integrates mouse models, molecular genetics, and biochemical approaches to advance understanding of metabolic pathologies.
