University of Texas Southwestern Medical Centerمعرفی
Chai-Wan Kim is an Assistant Professor in the Center for Human Nutrition at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, with a secondary appointment in the Department of Molecular Genetics. He earned his bachelor’s and doctoral degrees from Seoul National University (1997 and 2003, respectively). His postdoctoral training and early career research were conducted in Dr. Jay Horton’s lab at UT Southwestern, focusing on molecular mechanisms regulating hepatic fatty acid and cholesterol metabolism.
Research Interests: Kim’s work centers on enzymes involved in fatty acid synthesis pathways, utilizing tissue-specific knockout mouse models to study metabolic processes in various organs. Key areas include lipid metabolism, molecular mediators in hepatic regulation, and the interplay between genetic factors and metabolic disorders.
Labs/Teams: He is affiliated with the Horton Lab, contributing to collaborative research in metabolic biology.
