Dr. Shubho Das is a Senior Lecturer in Pathobiology at Charles Sturt University's School of Agricultural, Environmental and Veterinary Sciences. He holds a DVM, MSc in Veterinary Pathology, and a PhD in Virology. His research focuses on molecular virology, viral evolution, and structural biology approaches for vaccine development, particularly targeting circoviruses affecting endangered species like the Orange-bellied Parrot.
Education: DVM (Veterinary Medicine), MSc (Veterinary Pathology), PhD (Virology).
Research interests include viral evolution mechanisms, novel animal virus discovery, and recombinant protein expression for vaccines. He leads projects on Beak and Feather Disease Virus (BFDV) vaccine development and circovirus spillover dynamics in endangered birds. His work integrates virology, genomics, and structural biology to address wildlife conservation challenges.
Publications highlight advancements in diagnostic tools (e.g., VLP-based ELISA), antimicrobial resistance patterns, and viral disease ecology in poultry and wildlife. He collaborates with the Charles Sturt Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory for anatomic pathology support and molecular diagnostics.
Teaching encompasses veterinary pathology, molecular virology, and clinical rotations for undergraduates. His lab focuses on viral genomics and structural characterization, with recent work on avian adenoviruses and avipoxviruses in endangered species.
