معرفی
Dr. Shuang Zhang is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences at Texas A&M University. His research integrates geochemistry, data science, and numerical modeling to study global carbon and biogeochemical cycles, particularly during climatic perturbations. He leads the CACEE Lab (Climate, Atmosphere, and Carbon Ecosystem Engineering Lab), focusing on Earth-surface processes and climate change mitigation strategies.
Education:
- Ph.D., Department of Earth & Planetary Sciences, Yale University (2017)
- B.S., School of Earth and Space Sciences, Peking University (2011)
Research Interests: Dr. Zhang’s work emphasizes data-driven approaches (machine learning, statistical analysis) and model-driven frameworks (inverse modeling, global cycling simulators like SCEPTER) to quantify element fluxes and isotope behaviors. Key themes include soil-carbon interactions, enhanced weathering for carbon sequestration, and the interplay between climate and biogeochemical cycles. His lab develops innovative tools such as the iLOSCAR model for long-term Earth system analysis.
Awards & Grants:
- TAMIDS Career Initiation Fellow (2022)
- GeoDean’s Interdisciplinary Research Initiative Grant (2021)
- TAMIDS Course Development Grant (2021)
Advising & Grants: Dr. Zhang oversees a research group applying machine learning to geochemical problems and collaborates on interdisciplinary projects. Recent grants support course development in data science for Earth sciences and climate mitigation frameworks. His work bridges academia and real-world applications, such as optimizing agricultural practices for carbon removal.
Labs & Teams: The CACEE Lab (website: https://www.caceelab.space/) focuses on computational geochemistry, environmental modeling, and data science-driven Earth systems research. Collaborations span climate science, geology, and environmental engineering.
