Shaily Rahman is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Geological Sciences at the University of Colorado. Her research focuses on global biogeochemical cycles, marine and coastal processes, and the interplay between submarine groundwater discharge and contaminant transport. She holds degrees from McGill University (B.S., M.S.) and Stony Brook University (Ph.D., 2016).

Her research explores mechanisms governing carbon, nutrient, and trace element cycling in marine and coastal systems, with emphasis on glacial meltwater dynamics, deltaic sedimentation, and the silica cycle. Techniques include isotope geochemistry, field sampling, and numerical modeling. Recent work addresses climate-driven changes in coastal biogeochemistry and the role of reverse weathering reactions in sedimentary systems.
Notable projects include collaborative studies on the GEOTRACES North Atlantic transect, Arctic permafrost thaw feedbacks, and silica cycle mass balance using cosmogenic 32Si. She has contributed to interdisciplinary initiatives like the DIGMARS Team studying Martian sedimentary analogs in Iceland.
