معرفی
Dr. Matt Dodd is a Senior Research Fellow at the School of Earth and Oceans, The University of Western Australia. His research focuses on geochemical tools to understand Earth's carbon, phosphorus, and oxygen cycles, with significant contributions including the discovery of Earth's oldest fossils in 2017. His work bridges paleoenvironmental reconstruction and planetary habitability, addressing Sustainable Development Goals related to climate and resource management.
Education: PhD in Geochemistry (2018) from University College London, specializing in biosignatures in Earth's oldest rocks.
Research Interests:
- Ediacaran ocean chemistry and its impact on early life
- Phosphorus cycle evolution across geological time
- Biogeochemical drivers of Earth's oxygenation events
Grant Projects:
- DECRA25 (2025–2028): ARC-funded research on planetary habitability mechanisms
- Woodside Energy Partnership (2024–2025): Developing carbon sequestration via organic waste-to-limestone conversion
Awards: School of Earth Sciences Early-Career Research Award (2023) for contributions to early Earth geochemistry.
