Dr. Shouyu Chong is a Lecturer in Business Law at the University of Leeds’ School of Law and a Research Fellow at Singapore Management University’s Singapore International Dispute Resolution Academy. He holds a PhD in private international law and arbitration from King’s College London and an LLM in Corporate and Financial Services Law from the National University of Singapore. His research focuses on cross-border commercial dispute resolution, including mediation, arbitration, and conflict of laws.
Dr. Chong is co-author of the leading commentary on the Singapore Convention on Mediation (Wolters Kluwer, 2019/2022) and has delivered papers globally. Notable achievements include winning multiple research prizes, including the 2024 Society of Legal Scholars Best Paper Prize. His work has influenced policy, including the UK’s decision to sign the Singapore Convention in 2023.
