Professor Bernhard Maier is a Visiting Professor at The Dickson Poon School of Law, King's College London, and Partner/Head of Arbitration at Browne Jacobson LLP. He serves on the UK Attorney General's Panel for Public International Law and has EU Commission experience. His research focuses on AI regulation, critical infrastructure disputes, and evolving public international law dynamics in the digital age. He teaches the LLM course 'Cyberspace Law: Big Data, Algorithmic Governance and Democracy,' exploring jurisdiction in cyberspace, space law, and Big Tech regulation. His arbitration practice advises sovereign and private clients globally.
Research spans post-pandemic arbitration challenges, internet governance, EU trade/investment policy, and energy sector treaty conflicts. He sits as an arbitrator and publishes on international legal frameworks for borderless digital realities. Professional roles include leadership in arbitration teams and legal strategy for critical infrastructure projects. Active in both academic and practitioner communities, he bridges theory/practice through teaching and high-stakes dispute resolution.
