Shmuel Nili is an Associate Professor of Political Science at Northwestern University, with a PhD from Yale University. His research focuses on political philosophy, exploring meta-ethics, normative ethics, and applied ethics. Central themes include domestic/global injustice, public property, corruption, and abuse of power. He has authored three books: The People’s Duty (2019), Integrity, Personal and Political (2020), and Philosophizing the Indefensible (2023). His work bridges theoretical philosophy with real-world issues, addressing topics like global resource distribution, democratic sanctions, and autocratic exile. Nili’s research also examines moral challenges in transitioning societies and the ethical dimensions of political honors. He currently serves as an Associate Editor for Perspectives on Politics.

Research Interests: His work analyzes corruption’s moral implications, global resource governance, and the integrity of political institutions. Recent projects include a fourth book on rule-of-law pathologies and global reform strategies.
