Dr. Bechar received her MA in 2012 and PhD in 2019, both from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. She has been involved with Tel Hazor excavations since 2007 and became co-director of the excavations in 2015.
Her research focuses on Archaeology, Bronze Age, Iron Age, Canaanite history, Biblical archaeology, and Material culture. Dr. Bechar's work particularly examines the transition periods between Bronze and Iron Ages in Northern Canaan, with emphasis on standing stones and material culture changes during political transitions. Her analysis of the Black Wheel-Made Ware provides important insights into Intermediate Bronze Age pottery traditions.
Dr. Bechar has published significant research in respected journals including ZDPV and Tel-Aviv, with her most recent work exploring the commemorative significance of standing stones at Hazor. She is currently working on her forthcoming book "The Effects of Political Changes on Material Culture: The Middle Bronze Age-Late Bronze Age Transition in Northern Canaan as a Test Case" with Eisenbrauns.
As co-director of the Tel Hazor excavations since 2015, Dr. Bechar plays a vital role in one of Israel's most significant archaeological sites, contributing to our understanding of ancient Canaanite civilization and its transition to early Israelite settlement patterns.
