University of Illinois Urbana-Champaignمعرفی
Shiv Priyam Raghuraman is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Climate, Meteorology & Atmospheric Sciences at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign since 2024. His research focuses on Earth's radiative energy balance, climate feedback mechanisms, and satellite observations. Prior roles include postdoctoral positions at the National Center for Atmospheric Research (2021-2023) and the University of Miami.
Education:
- Ph.D. in Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences, Princeton University (2021)
- B.S. in Mathematics with a Physics minor, University of Minnesota Twin Cities (2016)
Research Interests: His work bridges climate physics and observations to understand how radiative processes drive global warming. Key areas include cloud feedbacks, radiative forcing, and satellite-derived climate metrics. He leverages advanced climate models and hyperspectral data to quantify Earth's energy imbalance.
Publications: Recent work analyzes aerosol impacts on energy imbalance, ENSO-driven warming spikes, and tropical cloud feedback quantification. Outputs span Communications Earth and Environment, Journal of Geophysical Research, and Atmospheric Chemistry and Physics.
Awards:
- NSF NCAR Advanced Study Fellowship (2021-2023)
- NASA Earth and Space Science Award (2019-2021)
- Princeton Energy and Climate Scholar (2018-2020)
Advising: Actively recruiting undergraduate/graduate students and postdocs for research in climate science. Teaches Clouds and Climate (ATMS 512) and Climate and Global Change (ATMS 140).
