Shishir Maithel

Shishir Maithel is the William T. Bovie Professor of Surgery and Chief of the Division of Surgical Oncology at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. He also serves as Chief Surgical Officer of the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center. His clinical focus includes malignant tumors of the liver, bile ducts, gallbladder, pancreas, stomach, small bowel, and sarcomas. He leads national clinical trials for colorectal cancer liver metastases, bile duct cancers, and stomach cancer through the National Cancer Institute.

He chairs key committees for organizations like the Society of Surgical Oncology (SSO), ECOG-ACRIN, and the Americas Hepato Pancreato Biliary Association (AHPBA). He serves as Editor-in-Chief of Surgical Oncology Insight.

Clinical Trials: Active trials include ECOG-ACRIN 2222 evaluating hepatic arterial infusion chemotherapy for colorectal liver metastases. He collaborates with the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation and NCI Task Forces to advance hepatobiliary cancer research.
