Erin Maynard

Dr. Erin Maynard serves as Professor of Surgery and Division Head of Abdominal Organ Transplantation and Hepatobiliary Surgery at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU), where she has been advancing the field since joining in 2015. She leads the transplant program that has grown from 60 to over 100 liver transplants annually while maintaining high standards of care. Dr. Maynard holds the prestigious Boris and Dorothy Rabkin Professorship in Transplantation and Hepatobiliary Surgery.

Her educational background includes a B.S. from Ohio University (2001), M.D. from Ohio State University (2006), General Surgery internship and residency at Maine Medical Center (2006-2011), and Fellowship in Abdominal Organ Transplantation and Hepatobiliary Surgery at Washington University (2011-2013). She is certified by the American Board of Surgery (2012).

Dr. Maynard's research focuses on abdominal organ transplantation, liver cancer, pancreatic cancer, and bile duct conditions, with particular emphasis on innovative techniques like normothermic perfusion to improve patient outcomes. Her clinical work spans transplant for abdominal organs and surgical treatments for various cancers affecting the liver, pancreas, and bile ducts.

Her extensive publication record demonstrates expertise across transplant surgery, hepatobiliary oncology, and surgical education, with recent work addressing critical issues in liver transplantation, pancreatic cancer treatment, and HPB fellowship training. Her research consistently bridges clinical practice with innovative surgical approaches.
