Dr. Shinyoung Jeon is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Human Development & Family Science at the University of Missouri's College of Education & Human Development. She holds a Ph.D. in Human Development and Family Studies from Iowa State University (2017). Previously, she worked at the University of Oklahoma's Early Childhood Education Institute, focusing on research-practice partnerships evaluating Head Start programs. Her research emphasizes longitudinal development of children from low-income families, culturally sensitive co-caring, and the integration of early childhood education and public school data.
Dr. Jeon's expertise includes advanced quantitative methods in applied developmental psychology and teacher-parent partnerships. She leads efforts to replicate early childhood education (ECE) program evaluations and develop an ECE data lab at Mizzou. She is affiliated with the Society for Research in Child Development (SRCD), American Educational Research Association (AERA), and National Council on Family Relations (NCFR).
Her work examines resilience in infant/toddler classrooms, dual language learning outcomes, and the impact of economic pressures on family dynamics. She collaborates with Head Start programs and public schools to address developmental disparities. Future projects aim to enhance program effectiveness through data-driven strategies and family engagement initiatives.
