Shilpi Sinha serves as a Professor in the Ruth S. Ammon College of Education and Health Sciences at Adelphi University, where she teaches foundational courses including Introduction To Philosophy Of Education, Paradigms Of Knowing, Racial Equity For Teachers, and School And Society from her office in Alumnae Hall 231.
Her academic credentials include a Ph.D. in Philosophy and Education from Columbia University (2006), an M.A. in Philosophy from Fordham University (1999), and a B.A. in Philosophy/Hispanic Languages and Literature from SUNY Stony Brook (1992).
Research focuses on critical intersections of race, philosophy, and pedagogy, examining conceptions of dialogue, re-visioning multicultural education, and the role of emotions in classrooms. Her work interrogates white complicity, racialized embodiment, and transformative teaching through frameworks of critical race theory and phenomenology, consistently centering educational justice and equity.
Recent publications (2018-2023) reveal a concentrated trajectory in critical race studies applied to education, with seminal contributions on white double consciousness, the aesthetics of racialization, and pedagogical challenges of addressing systemic racism.
