Sherry “Leigh” Hoffman is a Professor at ArtCenter College of Design within the School of Humanities and Sciences and serves as Faculty Director of Designmatters, where she supports faculty and students in creating change through design. She co-founded March Studio, applying brand strategy and progressive design to create impactful brand-defining spaces.
Her academic foundation includes an MBA in marketing and international business from New York University (NYU), complemented by prior professional experience in advertising and marketing at Y&R and Universal Studios.
Professor Hoffman’s research centers on the critical intersection of brand strategy, spatial design, and social impact. She explores how branding shapes human experiences in physical environments, with emphasis on:
- Brand Strategy development for social change
- Spatial Branding in architectural contexts
- Psychology of Branding in consumer behavior
- Marketing frameworks for progressive design
- Social Impact Design methodologies
Through Designmatters studios and initiatives like the 2013 LEAP Symposium, she facilitates multidisciplinary DesignStorms with partners including SHE, driving projects such as Strong Apart: Resilient+Connected, The Girl Effect, and Imagining the Future of the Barbie Dreamhouse to address societal challenges.
Her leadership extends to March Studio, where she merges brand expertise with design innovation to create meaningful spatial experiences, leveraging her entertainment industry background to inform academic practice.
