Dr. Hanson's professional focus integrates performance practice with creative output across multiple domains. Her compositions and arrangements—published by Boosey & Hawkes, Hal Leonard, and C. Alan Publications—have achieved global reach with performances on all continents except Antarctica, analyzed in scholarly series like Teaching Music Through Performance. She bridges classical and contemporary contexts through film scoring (including the feature film Out of the Wilderness), commercial studio work at Paisley Park, and klezmer fusion with her band Klezmer & All That Jazz.
As a performer, she has appeared as soloist with major ensembles including the Minnesota Orchestra, Milwaukee Symphony, Rochester Symphony, North Carolina Symphony, St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, Las Vegas Philharmonic, and U.S. Air Force Band. Her band piece Albanian Dance was featured in Atom Egoyan's film Guest of Honour, while her klezmer recordings contributed to an Audie Award-winning production of The Dybbuk.
