Shawn Wong is a Professor in the Department of English and the Department of Cinema & Media Studies at the University of Washington, holding the Byron and Alice Lockwood Professor in the Humanities chair. He teaches courses in Asian American Literature, Screenwriting, and Critical Practice.

His research focuses on Asian American literature, cultural identity, and creative writing pedagogy. He has edited seminal anthologies like Aiiieeeee! and The Big Aiiieeeee!, shaping the Asian American literary canon. Recent projects include a University of Washington Press book series on Asian American Literature and Culture.
Shawn Wong's publications span novels (Homebase, American Knees), anthologies, and academic commentaries. His work intertwines historical fiction with cultural studies, emphasizing themes of migration, assimilation, and intergenerational trauma.
