Shawn McClintock

Shawn McClintock is a Professor at UT Southwestern Medical Center, affiliated with the Department of Psychiatry and the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences. He serves as the Director of Research Training in the Clinical Psychology Doctoral Program.

Dr. McClintock’s research focuses on the neurocognitive effects of major depressive disorder and the impact of antidepressant neuromodulation therapeutics, particularly electroconvulsive therapy (ECT), repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS), and magnetic seizure therapy (MST). His work explores cognitive outcomes, treatment efficacy, and neuroplasticity in depression.

His publications highlight trends in ECT optimization, neuromodulation techniques, and residual symptoms in non-remitting depression. He has contributed to consensus guidelines for rTMS application and analyzed cognitive effects across lifespan stages.

Dr. McClintock has secured grant funding from the NIH and the Brain and Behavior Foundation. He serves as an Associate Editor of Neuropsychology Review and on the editorial board of the Journal of ECT. He has co-edited the book Neuropsychology of Depression and authored over 100 peer-reviewed articles.
