Kala Bailey

Kala Bailey, M.D., M.B.A., is a Clinical Professor and Vice Chair for Clinical Affairs in the Department of Psychiatry at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She joined the faculty in 2014 and contributes to the Peter O’Donnell Jr. Brain Institute clinical leadership committee.

• Education: Medical degree from UT Southwestern Medical School; residency in psychiatry at Baylor College of Medicine, where she served as Chief Resident.

Dr. Bailey specializes in clinical psychiatry, focusing on mental health disorders during intrapartum periods, electroconvulsive therapy, and neurotherapeutics for depression. She leads the CREST trial (Magnetic Seizure Therapy for Depression) and participates in medical education initiatives.

• Rising Star Award nominee (2018, 2019) for clinical excellence.
• Outstanding Graduating Resident Award recipient.

Her work bridges clinical leadership, psychiatric research, and patient care innovation.
