Sharon K. Zumbrunn

Dr. Sharon Zumbrunn is a Professor in Foundations of Education at Virginia Commonwealth University's School of Education. She co-directs the Motivation in Context Research Lab and has developed RoboCogger metacognition software.

Her research examines student learning processes, including writing self-regulation, motivation, belonging, and well-being across educational stages. Publications utilize mixed methods to explore writing attitudes, self-efficacy impacts on achievement, and affective dimensions of learning.

Awards include APA Early Career grants and institutional recognitions for teaching excellence. Current projects investigate writing self-regulation strategies and belonging in academic contexts.
