Dr. Shane Mathews is an Associate Professor at Queensland University of Technology (QUT) within the School of Advertising, Marketing & PR, part of the Faculty of Business & Law. He holds a Doctor of Philosophy in International Marketing from QUT and a Bachelor of Business (Honours) from the same institution. His research focuses on organizational transformation driven by digitalization, particularly in international marketing strategy and SME internationalization. He has extensive experience in digital marketing, virtual social networks, and the application of country-specific contexts to analyze global innovation practices.
Dr. Mathews has published over 50 papers and actively collaborates on research projects across Australia, Japan, Taiwan, Thailand, China, Indonesia, and Chile. His teaching interests include digital marketing, international marketing, and strategic marketing. He has received multiple awards, including the 2011 Innovation in Teaching Award and the 2006 Best Paper Award at the International Council for Small Business World Conference.
His research explores topics such as internet-enabled international entrepreneurship, risk perceptions in SMEs, and the role of virtual platforms in organizational dynamics. Current projects investigate Industry 4.0 impacts, circular economy transitions, and digital technologies in transport communication. Dr. Mathews has supervised numerous doctoral and master's students on themes like e-WOM continuity, virtual servicecapes, and cross-cultural capabilities of immigrant entrepreneurs.
