Shane Landry is a Research Fellow at Monash University's School of Psychological Sciences, specializing in sleep medicine and respiratory physiology. His research focuses on obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) endotypes, therapeutic interventions, and ventilatory control mechanisms. Landry has led and contributed to 17 research projects since 2015, including investigations into non-invasive ventilation, pharmacological therapies, and aerosol infection mitigation. He is a recipient of the 2019 Henry Krum Early Career Researcher Prize and the 2017 Australasian Sleep Association Publication Prize.
His work integrates clinical trials, physiological modeling, and interdisciplinary collaboration to advance OSA treatment strategies. Landry is actively supervising PhD students through Monash University’s Medicine Research program. Notable contributions include studies on CPAP efficacy, combination pharmacotherapy, and the role of mitochondria-derived peptides in OSA pathogenesis. He collaborates with institutions like Myosa Pty Ltd and the Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF) to translate research into clinical practice.
- Key Projects: Assessing acetazolamide/oxygen therapy, evaluating novel oral CPAP devices, and modeling aerosol transmission dynamics.
- Grants: AIRBORNE project (MRFF-funded), Monash Lung & Sleep Institute initiatives.
- Labs/Teams: Part of multidisciplinary teams addressing sleep-disordered breathing and infectious disease aerosol mitigation.
