Shadman Shahid is the Head of MA Photography & Society at the Royal Academy of Art, The Hague (KABK). He has been teaching in the Photography department since 2018 and previously served as a lecturer at Pathshala South Asian Media Institute. His work bridges documentary and fictional photographic methodologies, emphasizing collaboration, research, and social impact. Shahid graduated from the inaugural cohort of the MA Photography & Society program at KABK.
Research Interests: Shahid’s practice focuses on blending documentary and fictional narratives to explore societal themes. He prioritizes artistic and visual research at the MA level, advocating for projects that engage deeply with making and context.
- Awards: World Press Photo’s Joop Swart Masterclass, BJP Ones to Watch (2016), Burn Emerging Photographer of the Year (2018), Bird in Flight Prize (2019).
- Teaching Experience: Pathshala South Asian Media Institute (2015–2018), KABK Photography department (2018–present).
