معرفی
Sevim IŞIK is a Professor of Molecular Biology and Genetics at Uskudar University's Engineering and Natural Science Faculty. She holds a PhD from Okayama University and has over 30 years of research experience in neurodegenerative diseases, stem cell therapies, and targeted drug delivery. Her work focuses on cellular mechanisms underlying neural differentiation, neurodegeneration, and exosome-based therapies for Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases.
- Education: BSc from Boğaziçi University (1995), PhD from Okayama University (2003)
Research interests span neuroinflammation modulation, nanomedicine applications, and plant-derived compounds for neuroprotection. Her lab explores drug delivery systems, neuroprotective exosomes, and molecular pathways like DNA topoisomerase IIβ in stem cell differentiation.
Recent work includes studies on celery extract components against Alzheimer's amyloid toxicity (2025), boronic acid-based cancer sensors (2016), and PAMAM-modified nanoparticles for targeted therapy (2022). She has co-authored over 30 peer-reviewed articles with an h-index of 17.
Administratively, she serves as Head of ÜSKÖKMER Research Center and leads projects on neurodegenerative disease treatments, CRISPR-based bacterial resistance studies, and exosome-mediated immunotherapy.
