Sevgi Giles serves as Artist Faculty in Piano at the Music Conservatory of the Chicago College of Performing Arts, Roosevelt University, where she teaches Bachelor's, Master's, and Diploma programs. An internationally active pianist, she performs extensively as a recitalist, chamber musician, and orchestral soloist across America and Europe.
She earned her Bachelor's degree from the Ankara Conservatory in Turkey (winning all top performance awards and concertizing nationally), a Master of Music from Roosevelt University, and completed graduate studies at the University of North Texas. She was accepted into Indiana University’s School of Music Pressler studio and studied with Menahem Pressler at Vermont's Adamant Music Festival.
Professor Giles specializes in piano performance with profound expertise in Baroque music, particularly J.S. Bach's works. Her repertoire spans from Baroque masterpieces to contemporary premieres, reflecting deep interpretive skills in French Suites and new compositions by living composers.
Her major recognition includes:
- Prize for best performance of a French Suite, International Bach Competition, Saarbrucken, Germany (2001)
Notable performances feature the Dame Myra Hess Series (Chicago, 2005 broadcast on WFMT), Pianoforte Piano Series, American Liszt Society Conference, Ukrainian Institute of America, and festivals including Crested Butte, Eastern Music Festival, Adamant Music Festival, and Amalfi Coast Music Festival.
As a dedicated educator, she maintains a private studio while teaching at Roosevelt University, Metropolis Performing Arts School, and Music Institute of Chicago. Her recording legacy includes four compact discs with the North Texas Wind Symphony, featuring premieres of contemporary works where she performed as soloist.
