Daniel Paul Horn is Professor of Piano and Keyboard Chair at the Wheaton College Conservatory of Music, where he has taught applied piano, piano literature, and chamber music since 1984. He holds a BM (1978), MM (1979), and DMA (1987) in Piano Performance from The Juilliard School, studying with Walter Hautzig, Martin Canin, and Felix Galimir. His doctoral research focused on George Rochberg's music. Horn is a faculty artist at festivals including Sewanee, Adamant, and MasterWorks, and serves as Treasurer of the American Liszt Society.
Horn's research explores piano performance practice, historical keyboards (notably the Graf fortepiano), and diverse repertoires from Schumann and Liszt to contemporary composers. He premieres works by Jacob Bancks, Richard Danielpour, and others, blending analytical rigor with expressive interpretation. His articles address pedagogy, terminology, and music criticism, emphasizing historical context and technical clarity.
Awarded Wheaton College's Senior Academic Achievement Award, Horn performs globally with orchestras (e.g., Sarajevo Philharmonic), chamber ensembles (e.g., Chicago Symphony soloists), and collaborators like Jennie Oh Brown. His recordings include critically acclaimed discs of Schumann, Schubert, and Canadian art songs.
