Sethunya Mokoko is an Assistant Professor at the University of Virginia's College of Arts & Sciences, Department of English, specializing in Rhetoric and Writing. A scholar, writer, and filmmaker from Lesotho, his work centers on storytelling across media and cultures, with a focus on social justice, agency, and decolonization.
- Education: Ph.D. in Rhetorics, Communication, and Information Design (Clemson University, 2023); M.F.A. in Creative Writing (California State University, Long Beach, 2018)
- Experience: Former assistant director of Clemson's writing lab, Dean's Advisory Council member, and adjunct professor in Southern California
His research integrates African epistemologies into composition pedagogy, examining how global rhetorics shape identity and education systems post-colonization. Teaching includes courses on race, rhetoric, social justice, and cultural writing. Mokoko also engages interdisciplinary approaches in business writing and critical pedagogy.
