Professor You explores the cultural limits of Western rhetorical traditions through a comparative lens, emphasizing Confucian rhetoric's evolution and its intersections with globalization. Their work on multilingual writing addresses challenges faced by non-native English writers, particularly in postcolonial contexts. Key research themes include transnational literacy practices, transliteracy, and the decolonization of rhetorical studies.
Recent publications examine transnational writing education, epistemological theft, and cosmopolitan pedagogies. Their work critiques isolationist policies and advocates for inclusive, border-crossing educational frameworks.
Teaching and mentoring focus on empowering multilingual writers and fostering transnational academic collaboration. Their websites include http://www.personal.psu.edu/xuy10.
